Avon Review – Scam Or Legitimate MLM Business?
Welcome to my Avon Review!
Avon is a Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company that has been empowering women through a unique earnings opportunity for more than 125 years.
In this Avon Review, I will be examining and providing a little history on this company and the products that they offer. However, my emphasis in this Avon Review will be on the MLM Business opportunity that they offer as an Independent Avon Sales Representative.
Does Avon offer a legitimate and promising MLM Business opportunity, or is this a scam or pyramid scheme? This is my unbiased Avon Review.
Company Details & History
The Avon story begins with David H. McConnell, a door-to-door book salesman who was manufacturing free perfume samples to promote his book sales. However, he quickly noticed that his women customers were far more interested in his perfume samples than they were in his books.
This was a time when it was almost unheard of for women to work outside of the home, let alone run their own business. Women everywhere were struggling, a way of life that did not go unnoticed by McConnell.
As his book sales and perfume samples took him door-to-door, David H. McConnell also noticed that many of his customers had a natural sales ability, a character trait that could easily transfer into selling products through his future company.
So, California Perfume Company was founded in 1886, a company that would later be known as Avon, The Company For Women. Within 13 years, Avon had a sales force of 5,000 Representatives, and this company never looked back.
The ever so popular Avon product line
Today, Avon offers an enormous product line related to:
- Color Cosmetics
- Skincare

MLM Business – How their opportunity works…
Avon advertises that the cost to join as a Representative is a little more than a stick of lipstick. You can expect to pay about $10 for your Avon Representative Career Kit.
Compensation – Ways to earn
As an Avon Representative, you will earn retail commissions for every product that you sell, either in person or online.
Based upon the sale volumes that you accumulate every month, you will earn 20% for sales below $145, and as much as 50% for retail sales of $1,550 or more.
Avon Representatives are given the option to earn money in two ways, dependent upon their income goals:
- Simply sell products and profit from your own production.
- Participate as a Sales Leader, and profit from your own sales, as well as the sales of Representatives who you personally enroll.
Representative Training & Support
The Avon Representative training is based upon learning 3 simple steps:
- Sell
- Share
- Show
Your Representative Career Kit will include a DVD, which will take you step-by-step through their marketing and sales guidelines.
Building a business with Home Parties
At the moment that you enroll with Avon, you will be encouraged to conduct your Grand Opening Party, the first of many Home Parties that you will participate in.
You will schedule your Grand Opening, as well as all future parties in the homes of your friends, family members, acquaintances, associates, etc.
Avon does provide you with the capability to advertise your Avon Business using social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
However, the majority of your sales activities will be directed at your warm market of friends and loved ones.
Avon Review Conclusion
In my opinion, Avon is a very legitimate business opportunity. Avon is one of the most respected names in the direct selling industry, distributing high-quality beauty products for more than 125 years. This in itself is evidence that Avon is not a scam or pyramid scheme.
According to the Avon website, Representatives around the world are selling four lipsticks every second of every day. Two out of five women world-wide purchased an Avon product within the last year.
It is important to consider the challenges of building a business that is dependent upon your network of friends and family members to purchase products and join as Representatives in your organization.
However, Avon does provide you with some online marketing capabilities, which is a step in the right direction.
Whether you have a goal to build a part-time income, or replace your day job, I believe that Avon offers a solid opportunity for a dedicated individual.
I hope that you have found my Avon Review to be informative and educational! I wish you the best of luck in your search for a home business!

As a former Avon rep, I can tell you that you can make money at Avon if you can keep from spending it on Avon. LOL! I know people who make enough to make a large house payment with their Avon earnings.
Greeeeeeeeat Blog Love the Infomation you have provided me .
Hello. remarkable job. I did not imagine this. This is a splendid story. Thanks!
Thank you Andrew!
Avon is a good opportunity its just makeup tough. There are simular programs like the doba pinnacle one that let you sell a lot more products online from major drop shippers.
Avon is much more than just makeup. We have jewelry, cologne, clothing, housewares, skin care, and children’s items in addition to makeup. Don’t know why someone would say just makeup.
Great job here. I really enjoyed what you had to say.
Yes, I agree. Women can enjoy selling a product that does not require all of their time. The products are fun to show.
